Preparing bank statements for an independent review
Prepare legible, complete bank statements for a visa proof-of-funds review without exposing unnecessary sensitive details.
Begin with statements downloaded or issued through the bank’s recognised channel. The file should show the account holder, account identifier, statement period, opening and closing balances, currency and transaction history. A manually assembled spreadsheet is not a substitute for the underlying record.
Keep the period complete
Supply every page in sequence, including pages with few transactions. If the authority requests a defined period, make sure the start and end dates cover it without a gap between monthly statements.
Redact selectively
Never send a PIN, password, full payment-card number or security answer. You may obscure unrelated transaction descriptions if they are not needed to understand the funds, but excessive redaction can make balances and transfers impossible to follow. Ask before removing information that connects two accounts.
Name files in a stable pattern, such as Applicant-Savings-Jan-to-Jun.pdf. A short index is useful when several accounts or sponsors are involved.
